The UN: why it's time to close down this failed, morally bankrupt organization (before Kerry and Hillary get a chance to turn our foreign policy over to Kofi Annan)

Inside the Asylum

by Jed Babbin

Democrats believe that America's national security and foreign policy should be made subservient to the United Nations and Old Europe. That means that if John Kerry and Hillary Clinton have their way, Kofi Annan and Jacques Chirac will gain veto power over American foreign policy. But in Inside the Asylum, Jed Babbin reminds us that we've been down this road before, during the presidency of Bill Clinton -- and it leads to failure. In this book, he shows why.

Babbin takes you deep inside the UN, showing you the inner workings of this out-of-control organization that richly deserves the nickname "the Asylum." He details how the UN has eagerly adopted the role of handmaiden to international terrorism, and explores the outrageous oil-for-food program that shows that it is the UN, not the U.S., that has sold its soul for oil. The UN oil-for-food program, according to Babbin, "provided Saddam Hussein with the means to bribe politicians, to deprive his people of needed food and medicine, and to literally steal billions of dollars. There is even emerging evidence that money from the program might have gone to support al Qaeda."

And that's just the beginning. The UN, Babbin explains, is riddled with mismanagement and incompetence: his tour of the UN bureaucracy is positively hair-raising. But the UN's fatal flaws are deeper; they're built into its very nature, and they're getting worse. They start at the top: Babbin takes Kofi Annan to the woodshed in a richly documented exploration of how the universally lionized UN Secretary General is in reality just a symptom of the UN's disease: a perversely anti-American moral relativist who misses no opportunity to arrogate power to the UN.

Jed Babbin tears the cover off the UN, revealing:

  • How the UN, for America, is now a quagmire of diplomacy in which wars can be lost but not won and terrorism is watched but not stopped

  • The UN Security Council: how this grouping -- supposedly the world's strongest force for peace -- is interested only in tying down the U.S. and making any American action taken without UN permission illegitimate in the eyes of the world

  • American victories in Afghanistan and Iraq: why they happened in spite of the UN, not because of it

  • Tolerance for terrorism: how members of the terrorist group Hezbollah get along wonderfully with UN "peacekeepers" in southern Lebanon

  • The UN: not only financially, but also morally and intellectually corrupt -- even to the point of whitewashing graphic proof of Iraqi abuse, torture, and murder of American prisoners of war

  • How France, the self-appointed leader of Old Europe, challenges American action on every economic, diplomatic, and military front in order to support its false claim to global power

  • The Security Council's willful blindness to feverish efforts by Iran and other rogue states to develop nuclear weapons

  • Why the UN's ringing words condemning terrorism are in reality essentially meaningless, and have done nothing to stop the growth of the international Islamic terror network

  • The Iraq war: how UN stalling and dithering gave Saddam Hussein and the terrorist neighbors of Iraq time to plan the postwar insurgency and to move and hide WMDs

  • Kofi Annan: why he is the most activist, self-serving, and dangerous secretary-general the UN has ever had -- and how he has sought to expand the UN's power for its own sake

  • How American taxpayers actually spend more on the UN than they know -- because our UN dues are not America's only payment to the organization

  • Why the UN fails in most of its appointed tasks (not just creating world peace, but even the ones in which success is possible)

  • How Slick Willie again and again acted against the best interests of the United States, and subjected his foreign policy to UN direction -- with fatal consequences

  • The principal weakness of the EU -- and why the United States should expect no friendship or help from this Frankenstein-like conglomeration of states

  • Why it is so important today that the United States reform its alliances to fit reality, rather than the past, and end its membership in the UN

  • How our national security will be greatly reduced -- and our foreign policy chained to false friends and true enemies -- if the UN and Old Europe again annex American foreign policy during a Kerry Administration

Despite their pretensions to superiority, says Babbin, the United Nations and the European Union are morally bankrupt - and increasingly determined in their opposition to the true leader of the free world, the United States. In this book, he demonstrates beyond all doubt that America is playing and must continue to play the international peacekeeper role that the UN was created to play, and that (unlike the UN and the EU) only America is unwilling to kowtow to tyranny and terrorism. Babbin provides mountains of compelling evidence to prove that no American president should ever defer to the United Nations. In fact, he argues that to do so violates the President's primary duty of dprotecting and defending the Constitution and the national security of our country.

Yet despite all this, America remains the UN's chief enabler. Bill Clinton, of course, energetically abetted Kofi Annan's power grabs. Since then the organization has not lacked for vocal and powerful supporters. But Babbin provides abundant evidence here that to try to reform the UN would be a fool's errand, and that it's time to cut our ties both with that increasingly anti-American organization and with the doomed, sclerotic welfare states of Old Europe. "We owe no tribute to the UN and the EU," declares Babbin. "We should look after our own defense."

The United Nations headquarters building in Manhattan is an international enclave, no longer American territory. Inside the Asylum is a powerful argument that it's time to reclaim that land for America. add to cart

Jed Babbin has brought to light the true aim of the United Nations: to co-opt the national security policies and national defense stratagies of the United States. His factual accounting of the corruption inside this organization is startling. From the Iraqi "Oil for Food" scandal to the willing employment of known terrorists and terrorist organizations, he makes a convincing case for our eventual withdrawal from the UN. A must read for anyone who wants to know where $7 billion of our tax dollars go each year.

Great article that totally reflects my views! Omitted was my pet peave of reps and families free to commit ANY crime imaginable and not be punished because of "Diplomatic Immunity!"

Time to cut the U.N. loose and ship it to another country for THEM to deal with!
